19-Year-Old Shelter Dog Still Loves To Play Fetch And Needs A Forever Home

Why deal with the messes and destruction that come with puppies when you can adopt a senior dog who already has perfect manners and comes pre-trained?

Ace is thought to be 19 years old and is available for adoption at the Sacremento SPCA. He is some kind of herding dog mix, possibly border collie mixed with cattle dog, a gorgeous blue merle with half-prick ears and a constantly wagging tail.

He might be gradually going blind but this young at heart pup loves going for walks and playing fetch. His current foster family recently took him to the pet store to pick out a toy. He happily jumped in the car, enjoyed the ride, and carefully selected his preferred toy-a stuffed red fox.

And then he headed for the automatic door, apparently forgetting he was supposed to pay first, but well, those senior moments.

Ace gets along really well with both cats and dogs. He has beautiful manners overall, knows how to behave in the house, and has great obedience skills, responding instantly to cues like "down" and "sit".

If you have room in your heart and home for this adorable dog, he's available right now for adoption. As are a large number of other senior dogs. These dogs often lose their homes through no fault of their own when their senior owners become unable to care for them. Adopt a senior pet today!

If you know anyone at all who might want Ace in their life, please forward this story to them.
