19-Lb Miniature Horse Left Behind By Mom Finds Loving Home With Three French Bulldogs In San Diego

An adorable miniature horse has finally found his forever home. Peabody, a miniature horse that weighs 19 pounds, was abandoned by his mother soon after he was born. His small structure has been a struggle for the animal, as it was too hard for him to reach his mother’s udder and wean from her — the reason why he was abandoned in the first place. Now, Peabody has gone on to find a new home with a miniature horse trainer and her three French bulldogs in San Diego, California.

After overcoming plenty of obstacles and barriers, Peabody has been lucky enough to find a new home with a caring family where he is receiving the proper care and attention he needs and deserves. As of June 2021, this mini horse is living a life of luxury as he is not only allowed inside the San Diego house but actually is residing there for the time being unless he grows more or becomes more comfortable with horses larger than his incredibly small size.

Peabody has had his fair share of struggles and a variety of health complications but has come a long way since being adopted by his new owner. With the love and support from his current family, he has already shown promising signs of progression. Not only that, but the mini horse has also learned how to let his guard down and get along with his new set of canine companions, so much so that he even feels comfortable enough to play with the three of them.

Metro UK reported that Peabody weighs just 19 pounds and is only six weeks old. At this structure, the tiny horse is actually smaller than most dogs, making him the perfect companion for a trio of French bulldogs. Faith Smith, a 55-year-old miniature horse trainer from San Diego, decided to take him in and moved him indoors into her own home alongside her three dogs.

“Peabody is the smallest horse in the world at his age,” Smith said. “Horses are never indoors, but Peabody is so small that he could never live outside unless he gets bigger, and we’re not sure if he will.” He was originally rejected by his mother for being too small to reach her udder. Metro UK reported that Peabody’s jaw was out of line, and he couldn’t walk, and his original owners even though he was deaf and blind since he was unable to wean.

Since moving indoors, the mini horse has already gotten stronger. His haw has aligned, and he has even learned how to walk! He’s also taken a clear liking to the three dogs he lives with, and they all get along well, although he was pretty nervous around them at first. Smith said that Peabody has learned to let his guard down and has started playing with the dogs. In a video, the friendly animals were seen lounging and playing together in various areas of the luxurious home.

“I’ll keep him forever, but I hope he gets bigger so he can go out with other horses,” Smith said. “Otherwise, he’s just going to be a house horse.”
