18-Year Old Attempted To Break Into German Prison To Win Back Imprisoned Ex-Girlfriend

A person who is truly infatuated with someone can sometimes go to great lengths to prove their devotion. This seems to have been the motivation of a desperate young man in Germany. He recently decided to attempt a break-in at a prison as a way to win back his ex's affection. News of his lovestruck exploits has quickly spread around the globe.

The wall the 18-year-old male successfully climbed over was four meters (13 feet) tall. In order to avoid getting entangled in the imposing barbed wire that was stretched across the top of the barrier, the young man had to remove a large portion of his clothing. He was caught by the prison authorities while in this semi-nude state. NDR, local news media in Vechta, the northwestern German town where the prison is located, reported that the stubborn intruder flatly refused to come down from the perch where they apprehended him. Instead, the fire department forcibly removed him and brought him down on a ladder.

The man's ultimate goal had been to reach his ex-girlfriend's cell window. There, he planned to convince her to get back together with him. She was an inmate at the prison who had recently broken up with him during a telephone call. She is also 18 years of age. News media thus far have been unable to confirm whether or not the young man's rash venture resulted in a restored relationship with his former dating partner. What is clear is that he will most likely now face several legal charges of his own. Among the topics of his police investigation are attempting to make unauthorized contact with a prisoner and trespassing on the prison grounds.
