There are many times in our lives when we feel like we aren't on the same page with our family members. Sometimes they annoy us and other times we are fighting over petty things that are of no importance. Still, if you take time to think about it, you are glad and love all of your family members – even the most stubborn ones.

You might be one of those lucky people that never question the support you get from your family. You might not even think about it – you just know that they will be there for you. Sometimes, the family members that are most loving and kind are often overlooked. They never complain – they are simply glad to be able to give and love.

Remember, there are people out there who do not have this. There are children that live in foster care and never had parents. Those children have a little different perspective on what it means to be a child and grow up.

Haven is a 17-year-old boy that is not looking forward to his eighteenth birthday. He knows that the moment he turns 18, he will be out of the foster care system and out into the big world without having a family, parents, or siblings to turn to and call his own.

Haven is not picky. He is willing to be adopted by anyone who would have him. As long as they love him, he will be happy. He is currently living with four other children in the shelter. The worst part of being in the shelter is the lack of independence that the children have there. That is why he is looking forward to getting his driver's license which will give him more independence.

He is currently involved in the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps and wants to join the military one day. This is what he feels to be his chance to be part of something bigger than himself. This way he can serve his country and also be able to travel the world.

As a gift of the Army National Guard, he recently received a tour into their headquarters, got to sit in a Hummer, and got a couple of gifts. All of this is something big for someone who is not used to receiving presents very often.

What do you think can be done to make the lives of foster children better? Do you think Haven has a chance of being adopted? Let us know in the comments and be sure to pass this article along to your loved ones to show them how grateful you are for having them in your life.
