A 17-year-old boy was found dead by his father after suffering a seizure said to have been caused by an all-night gaming session.

Piyawat Harikun, from Northern Thailand, was an avid gamer who would regularly pull all-nighters playing online games.

Piyawit's parents have now come forward in an attempt to warn other parents to keep their children's game time under control. The grieving parents also revealed that following Piyawit's gaming sessions, which often went through the whole night, the boy would then close his curtains in order to continue playing throughout the day.

''I called his name and said 'wake up, wake up' but he did not respond. I could see he was dead," Jaranwit, Piyawit's father, told reporters according to the Mirror

His father, Jaranwit, found his son collapsed from his chair on Monday afternoon. He explained that although he tried to revive his son, it was already too late. His body was then examined by medics the following afternoon and determined his death was caused by stroke, which they believe to have been triggered by his extreme gaming habits.

Jaranwit has since revealed his son was addicted to video games and wants Piyawit's death to be an example for other parents to keep an eye on their children.

"My son was smart and always did great at school but he had a major problem with gaming addiction," he admitted.

"I tried to warn him about his relentless long hours playing games and he promised to reduce it, but it was too late. He had already died before he had a chance to change. I want my son's death to be an example and warning for parents whose children are game addicts. They need to be more strict on their children's playing hours otherwise they could end up like my son."

Piyawit's body was then transferred to a buddhist temple, where his family will be planning his funeral.
