A sweet 17-year-old Chesapeake Bay retriever named Sadie was out on a walk to Sleeping Giant Park in Connecticut when she slipped out of her collar and got lost. The poor deaf dog was lost for 4 days while concerned people looked for her. Her owners pulled out all the stops to find her. They used dog trackers, infrared cameras and even deployed drones, but they couldn't find their beloved dog.

The family posted some flyers and online messages about the lost dog hoping that someone would stumble upon her. The situation took a lucky turn when a hiker heard the dog howling. She posted a message on Facebook about the situation, and this led to a renewed search for Sadie.

Sadie was trapped in a deep ravine and crying out for help when a hiker passed near enough to hear her. Steve Toby had gone several times to look for Sadie, and he decided to venture out again after seeing the new Facebook post about a dog in distress. Steve was hoping to hear something, and when he stopped at a particular location, the dog started to bark. He looked for the dog and discovered that she was in a hidden spot under the ground.

Another man who was also at the scene in response to the Facebook post went into the ravine to rescue the elderly dog. He put a leash around her, and the two men lifted her out. The family was so relieved to be reunited with their beloved pet that had been with them for 15 years.

Sadie was in poor condition when they found her. She was weak and dehydrated with cuts on her legs. Luckily, she had no broken bones or other serious injuries. She is recovering well at a local veterinary facility.

The Roush family rescued Sadie from a shelter in Durham, NC in 2004. Despite her advanced age, she still enjoys daily two-mile walks. She is still alive today because her family never gave up looking for her.
