The "Amazing Grace" hymn is one that speaks directly to a lot of people's hearts. However, the origins of the hymn are most certainly not as well-known as the song itself. According to Public Radio International's "The World," the song was originally written by Anglican priest John Newton in England in 1773. It became widely popular in the United States in the early 1800s during the Second Great Awakening.

Music scholars have speculated that "Amazing Grace" was sung at revivals to various tunes different from the one popularized so widely today. This tune is called "New Britain," and it was first published together with Newton's "Amazing Grace" lyrics in 1847. The song has been a staple for gospel and folk artists alike since the 20th century. Little Maya certainly has coined her own version of the famous tune.

Maya jumps right into the alphabet song after "Amazing Grace." During the beginning, she seems to lose track of where she's at. It's pretty adorable, but she gets right back on track! It's hard to understand what she's singing at the end of the song which makes it even cuter! Plus, we know where she's coming from. She stops for a minute, and her dad suggests that she sing "You Are My Sunshine." You can tell that this is her favorite. She perks right up at the suggestion! Maya makes it through the song to her own little beat. Her daddy is so proud of her.

If these adorable performances weren't enough, she begins counting in Spanish! How smart is this little girl? She makes it all the way to 10! Her daddy then begins testing her with math problems. You can tell that they're a breeze for her. She responds to each question with a loud and proud answer! Maya's father posted the video to YouTube, and it instantly became a hit!

According to WSOCTV, Maya's parents not only posted the video to YouTube but also sent the link to "The Oprah Winfrey Show" for it to be featured on the "World's Most Talented Kids" episode. According to Oprah's website, the search for the "world's most talented kids" began in 2008. However, Maya was not the only talent that was found on the show.

Another singer, Nora Al-Jabri from Norway was featured on Oprah's segment. She was just 13 years old when she sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on the Oprah Show and even earned third place on "Norway's Got Talent."

Noah Gray-Cabey is another child musician that was featured on Oprah's show. At just 6 years old, he played piano on stage in front of Oprah's audience. Now Gray-Cabey has gone on to become an actor, having starred in the CBS medical drama "Code Black."

Charice Pempengco also impressed Oprah's audience by performing Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing" in 2008. She has even gone on to sing with other musical legends such as Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli.

According to the Gaston Gazette – who originally published about Maya being on "Oprah" — Maya was featured on the episode alongside Will Smith's daughter Willow Smith. Maya even traveled with her mother April all the way to Chicago, Illinois, on Feb. 21, 2011, to attend a recording of the show, according to WSOCTV. At the time Maya was just a pre-kindergartner at The Gaston Christian School, but she still had her own impression after meeting Oprah; Maya said:

"[Oprah] touched me on the hand and gave me lots of hugs."

It seems like Maya has surely gotten the recognition that she deserves! We're looking forward to seeing what her future holds!
