16-Year-Old Has The Public Saying She's The Next Janis Joplin

Some people are born with natural talent, while others have to work hard at perfecting their abilities. For those people who discover their talents from a young age, they're at an advantage as they can spend their youth perfecting their abilities and emerge as young adults already a head above the rest.

That clearly seems to have been the case with Amelia Lily Oliver, who showed off her singing talents to the world when she appeared on the UK edition of "The X Factor" in 2011. Performing Erma Franklin's "Piece of My Heart," Amelia impressed all four judges and the entire audience, both in the studio and at home. Her deep and powerful voice has even been compared with American singer Janis Joplin.

But while she was gifted with natural musical talent, Amelia also struggled with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) since she was 3 years old. Born in Middlesbrough to Aranka Bradley and Barry Oliver, Amelia hasn't let the autoimmune disease affect her life and clearly, it hasn't affected her desire to showcase her talents to the world.

By the age of 13, Amelia had devoted her time to music, as she'd focus on writing songs using her guitar. She even started a YouTube channel, which featured a cover of Adele's hit, "Someone Like You."

But it wasn't until she auditioned for "The X Factor" in Liverpool in 2011 that the whole world was able to witness her talents. At the tender age of 16, she braved the public and put her talents on display to all.

Amelia's performance of Erma Franklin's "Piece of My Heart" wowed the crowd. All four judges — Tulisa, Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, and Kelly Rowland — couldn't believe what they'd just seen. It was as if Janis Joplin had come back and sung through this 16-year-old girl that stood before them. In fact, the legendary musician even popularized the song that Amelia sang that day with her rendition in 1968.

Tulisa appeared truly shocked at Amelia talents, telling her:

“People work their whole lives and take forever to get to that level that you are at now. You’ve come up that stage so much older than your years. You performed like a 30-year-old woman that has been perfecting her craft for years and years. That was amazing! You blew up the stage!”

Naturally, after such an incredible performance, all four judges gave her a "yes" to proceed further in the competition. And thankfully, the show wasn't the last we'd see of Amelia. Following her time on the UK edition of "The X Factor," she signed with Sony Music and released her debut single "You Bring Me Joy." She followed this up with two albums and her career has only gone from strength to strength. She even toured in the UK with the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and later appeared on the reality shows "Celebrity Big Brother" and "Geordie Shore."

Now just 26 years old, Amelia is still performing and has so much of her career ahead of her and we can't wait to see what she'll get up to next!
