Hallelujah is among the most powerful songs ever written and sang. It has a way of affecting people on a deep emotional level. It’s the kind of song that stops people in their tracks. Many a Leonard Cohen fan was turned on to him when they heard that song and asked who is that. It has been covered many times, but few covers have arguably achieved the emotional appeal of this version.

The cover in question is sung by a young girl who was 14 years old when the video was recorded. She is now 17 and well on her way to becoming a household name. That success is thanks in large part to an incredible voice and a video that is now going viral.

The young talent in question is one Hannah Geller. She takes an unbelievably emotional approach to the song. What is so iconic and beautiful about the original Cohen rendition is how he bares his soul. Even many established artists have covered this song and been unable to match that intimacy. Here, it is achieved by a girl so young. Sometimes, the term old soul gets thrown around easily, but you have to believe she has a depth that belies her youth in order to deliver the song like this.

Geller originally performed for a Christmas celebration back in 2015. She’s beautiful dressed for the occasion and standing in front an amazing Christmas tree that really sets the tone for the moment. The execution is incredible and reflects talent and skill that you may not expect from one so young. There are moments in that song that sends chills up your spine, and she really manages to hit the notes in the right moments to earn a similar reaction.

The video became the basis for a following on social media. That following now nears 200,000 on Instagram alone, and that success has helped the video go viral. In fact, it even earned the Wisconsin native the privilege of singing the national anthem for a Packers game at Lambeau Field.

How did Hannah's version of 'Hallelujah' make you feel? Are you a Leonard Cohen fan and did it perhaps spark a tinge of sadness at his passing not so long ago? Let us in on your thoughts and feelings in the comments and be sure to spread the word about young Hannah's talent!
