Sofia Bogdanova won first place in the Junior Female Classic Slalom category at the Wuyishan Rollerskating Festival in 2018 when she was 13 years old. Now at 14, the Russian National Team representative is a six-time world champion and a nine-time European champion roller skater.

You may not know how to roller skate or ice skate, but most people agree that these are interesting and beautiful activities to undertake. While most of us would consider ourselves amateur at best when it comes to balancing on blades and wheels, we are always a little awestruck at someone who takes grace and agility to the next level of proficiency.

As with any sports hobby, there are a number of competitions that offer people the chance to show off their skills for a title, a trophy, and sometimes even cash. Thank goodness for these opportunities to display our skills; this is where Russian prodigy Sofia Bogdanova comes in.

Pint-sized champion

At only 14 years of age, Sofia is a six-time world champion and a nine-time European champion roller skater. She even has her own YouTube channel to display her astonishing rollerblading skills. Should you decide to tune in, you'll likely be amazed as well.

First-place beauty

At the Wuyishan Rollerskating Festival in 2018, Sofia took home the first-place prize in the Junior Female Classic Slalom category. As her routine began, Sofia stood motionless, only a few graceful flicks of her wrist imitating a bird taking flight before spinning off on her right foot.

Back and forth she glided effortlessly between each blue cone, balancing on her right foot and making her seamless swerve look absolutely effortless. A breathless crowd watched in eager anticipation as she reached the end of the cones, performing a dazzling twirl and attempting the same course backward on the opposite foot.

With more grace and control than many professional adult skaters, she attempts course after course, switching positions with all of the strength and grace of a world-class ballerina.

All of those hours of practice and passion for her craft have paid off –– she finished strong while a breathless crowd burst into applause, then coolly and calmly skated off the court for a casual chat with friends and a drink of water.

Practice makes perfect?
