Just about every parent can relate to giving their child their phone to occupy them for a few minutes, but one dad was left baffled after his young daughter ended up making a rather extravagant purchase on eBay.

Not even two-years-old, Sorella Soute manage to make a purchase beyond her years. While using her dad, Paul Stoute's smartphone, she navigated her way to eBay. A few clicks later, and she had gifted him a 1962 Austin-Healy Sprite (She clearly has a thing for classic cars).

When Paul received the email about payment for the car being needed, he was left baffled. With no recollection of having made such an important purchase, he figured someone was trying to scam him.

But upon checking his eBay account, he saw that it had been bought in his name. Putting two and two together, he realized that Sorella's technological skills were well beyond her years.

Thankfully, Paul was able to get things sorted out. Upon getting in touch with the seller, he was able to opt out of the deal. Had he been locked in, it would only have been a $225 expense. (Although he would also have to figure out what to do with this car).

This is definitely an amusing story with a happy ending, but it serves as a reminder of how we should be responsible when sharing our devices with kids. Without meaning to, Sorella could've caused even bigger trouble for her dad. Is that really worth a few minutes of peace and quiet?

One of the biggest reasons to keep smartphones away from your kids is that you need to help them develop relationships with people and not ones with technology.

Too much time spent on smartphones can also cause them to become overly-attached to devices. If they need a smartphone to pacify them, they're going to have trouble feeling calm without it.

They shouldn't be banned from using devices, but technology shouldn't have control over their lives, especially at such a young age.

Sorella is young, but she's already shown herself to be something of a big spender. Has your child ever made a huge purchase by accident? Let us know in the comments! We encourage you to show this article to any friends of yours who have kids who love playing with their smartphones.
