13-Year-Old Schoolboy Breaks Into Airport At Night And Manages To Steal Two Planes

A 13-year-old boy in Huzhou City in the east Chinese province of Zhejiang just got himself into a lot of trouble.

According to the Daily Mail, the teenager currently being investigated by authorities after closed-circuit surveillance cameras caught the lad attempting to fly not one, but two planes at the Taihu National Holiday Resort.

The boy, whose name has not yet been released to the public by authorities, trespassed onto the resort's private airstrip sometime after midnight. Although not functioning as a commercial airport, the resort is home to a small airstrip and a garage containing small SeaRey planes, used for private tours.

The boy climbed into the cockpit of the first plane and began to drive it, but crashed into a chainlink fence at a low speed. Undeterred, he brazenly attempted to commandeer a second plane, and drove it around a few minutes before disembarking and fleeing the scene.

While at no point did the boy attempt to take the planes airborne, staff at the resort say that it's risky for an untrained pilot to attempt to pilot the planes, even just at ground level.

Authorities were able to identify the boy from the surveillance footage after resort staff recognized him from a day prior, when he'd been spotted carefully watching the airstrip and observing the planes.

One might think that a rebellious teen like this would have been up to no good when the police showed up at his door, but the teen was actually hard at work studying at his desk when the authorities came to confront him at home.

His parents were utterly flabbergasted when they learned of their son's actions and maintain that they had no idea he'd even snuck out of their home.

While most of us have undoubtedly had some misadventures in our youth, few of us probably ever took teenage rebellion to such a shocking level. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing and it's not yet known if the boy will face charges. Do you think he should be held criminally liable or is this just a case of teenage mischief?
