When you think of thirteen-year-olds, you probably envision little girls twittering over cute boys and enjoying sleepovers. While this may also be true of Charlotte Summers, she doesn’t let her age hold her back – this young teenager is a singing sensation!

The middle schooler took to the show “America’s Got Talent” and absolutely floored the judges when she began singing her version of Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me”.

When she first got on the stage, the girl was obviously a bundle of nerves, bouncing from one foot to another. The judges teased her, making jokes and trying to make the event easier on her. Charlotte laughed and confirmed that she indeed was nervous. However, when the music started, that all changed.

“You Don’t Own Me” isn’t a very popular choice as it is a very challenging song. Charlotte, however, belted it out with ease and made it seem like it was fun. All of her nervousness was gone and she owned the stage like someone who had a lifetime of performance experience.

The audience was stunned, with individuals looking at each other and breathing “wow” before they rose to their feet to cheer. The judges were just as surprised, with some of them standing up to cheer her on.

Jay Leno, who was a guest judge that night, reported that he was “blown away” with her performance, and he wasn’t the only one! Simone Cowell had nothing but encouraging words about her song and made a humorous observation, saying, "We've asked all these other acts why they're so nervous, and I get it now. It's because they've heard you."

Charlotte told interviewers that she has been watching “America’s Got Talent” since she was seven years old and that it inspired her to start singing.

A sweet girl, Charlotte enjoyed chatting with some of the older contestants behind the stage, wishing them the best with their own performances. It gained her the support of many who were standing on the sidelines, cheering her on.

While we don’t know how Charlotte will do long-term, her performance earned her the move to the next round in the competition. We can’t wait to hear more of her beautiful voice and see if she can, once again, floor her listeners!
