13 Guaranteed Lessons Moms Of Boys Will Learn

Apr 12, 2018 by apost team

There is much to learn when it comes to parenting, but having boys tends to bring about a certain degree of unique situations that can be either wonderfully heart-warming or terribly frustrating. These situations may not always be obvious to a mom truly dealing with little boys and their quirks for the first time.

1. Fighting Does Not Always Indicate An Argument

Little boys are bundles of frantic energy, and sometimes that energy manifests as a wrestling match. It is normal for boys to show affection through pushes and punches, and just because you see your boy in a fight with his friend or brother, it does not always mean they are angry. Learning how to tell the difference between play and real fighting is an important skill for raising boys.

2. Never Let Your Guard Down In The Bathroom

Whether or not they mean to do it, most boys are very bad at aiming. Always keep your eyes open when you need to use the restroom to avoid unhappy accidents.

3. Like Feeding A Bottomless Pit

Boys are hungry. Always. Make sure your kitchen is well-stocked at all times to stave off hunger crazes.

4. LOUD AND PROUD

There is no such thing as volume control in a boys' vocabulary. They are loud, and they love to be noisemakers. Prepare yourself.

5. You Might Want To Wear Shoes - The Lego War

It is never a bad idea to fight, but just know that you will never truly be able to win the war of Legos on the floor. Every battle you win will reduce the damage, but maybe it is best to wear some comfy shoes in the meantime...

6. Looking Up As Much As Down

Little boys love to climb, and climb, and climb. And not just trees or ladders, but anything that can even slightly resemble something to crawl on.

7. Stay Strong With Potty Training

Moreso than girls, boys seem to have a harder time getting the whole "potty" thing down. Practice patience with the accidents, and know that eventually, they'll get the hang of it.

8. Keep The First Aid Kit Stocked

As we mentioned, boys love to get rowdy. Just know that you are going to fall in the middle of their games, and you will get hurt. Keep your band-aids and ice packs at the ready.

9. Sturdy, But Not Invincible

Boys will get hurt, and it is rare that they will ever admit it. Every little boy thinks he is invincible, and will play through hurts until they physically cannot.

10. Watch Out For Flying Objects

You know what works well for a game of catch? Everything.

11. Brace Yourself For The Competition

The need to compete seems inherent in little boys. Racing, jumping, collecting--whatever it is, they will want to test their mettle every time.

12. Never Wash Clothes Blindly

Always check the pockets...no matter how slimy it may be.

13. Remember: You Are Their First Love

No matter what they might do or get into, you will always be your boy's first love. You are the first woman they will know love for, and it is important that you start young when it comes to teaching them to respect women. This will prove the difference between a brute, and a gentleman.

Surely you agree with at least half of these! Tell all your friends and family members who are or going to be moms to give them a helping hand about what is approaching!
