12-year-old Jaylin Clyburn knows the value of hard work. Where most kids his age are more concerned about video games and the latest Marvel superhero movie, Jaylin seized the initiative and got a job mowing lawns. The Lancaster, South Carolina resident has big dreams of attending college, but knows that higher education is very expensive. When the time comes for him to go to his dream school, Jaylin wants to be able to help his mother with the financial side of his education. The sixth grader originally got the idea to mow lawns from his cousin, who owns a landscaping business.
Enterprising as ever, Jaylin began his lawncare business, Jaylin Clyburn Lawns, by posting ads on Facebook. Since then, Jaylin has gotten numerous customers, including Joe Lalino. Joe was one of Jaylin’s first customers and praises the 12-year-old as a courteous, hardworking child. To help Jaylin’s business succeed, Joe allows the young man to use his own mower after he noticed that Jaylin’s equipment was a little worse for the wear.
