In our modern world, education is one of the most basic necessities. Doors open through quality education, not only for careers but for wisdom and understanding as well. Unfortunately, many people do not have access to basic education. To help those struggling in his community, a 12-year-old boy from Argentina established his very own private school.

Leonardo Nicanor Quinteros of Las Piedritas, a small town near San Juan, always enjoyed school. The young boy, who prefers to be called Nico, was nevertheless saddened by how many kids he knew that struggled with their studies. Nico also knew several kids that didn’t even attend school.

To help these kids, Nico approached his grandmother, Ramona, about a plan he had to build a school on a plot of land adjacent to her home. Ramona was glad to help Nico realize his ambition, reports Remezcla.

When locals heard of Nico and Ramona building a school, they were more than glad to help too and donated items like work benches, lockers, and books for a library.

While Nico’s school might not look overly impressive from the outside, it is working wonders for the people of Las Piedritas. Nico teaches at the school every afternoon following the end of his own school day. The young boy gives lessons free of charge and has thus far attracted 36 students.

By and large, most of Nico’s pupils are younger than he is, but the school has attracted a few adults who want to better their lives with education. Nico divides his school into six classes for elementary and kindergarten students.

The school also has a speaker system so Nico can play the Argentinian national anthem before class, a tradition among schools in the country.

Ramona is beaming with pride in Nico’s work. The elderly lady told Channel 8 News San Juan that she is amazed that her grandson can spend so much time teaching others while still keeping up with his own studies. Nico’s students also express gratitude at all the work he has done for the community.

In an interview with reporters from Clarin, a second-grade student said that thanks to Nico’s help, he was able to pass a test that will allow him to move on to third grade.
