12-Year-Old Becomes Emotional While Performing At His Parents’ Vow Renewal Ceremony & Gains Online Praise

Getting married is an incredible moment for the happy couple. The ceremony and reception usually are filled with their closest friends and family joining in on the beautiful celebration. Some couples even choose to renew their vows several years down the road to continue honoring their love and commitment to each other. Oftentimes, this ceremony is smaller and more intimate than the wedding was, but that doesn’t mean it has to be any less romantic or meaningful.
Kemorene Mills-Armstrong was overjoyed when her 12-year-old son, Aiden, agreed to sing at her vow renewal ceremony in Port St. Lucie, Florida, in March 2023. Mills-Armstrong originally came up with the idea, but Aiden didn’t even hesitate to say yes as he already knew what song he wanted to sing.
The young boy picked “You Are the Reason” by English singer Calum Scott. Although it was released in 2017, it still holds a soft spot in many people’s hearts.
"I chose the song because I find it really sentimental and it was very sweet," Aiden told Good Morning America. "I love my parents so that's why I decided to choose that song to sing at the wedding."
The song clearly meant a lot to not only Aiden’s parents but to Aiden as well. The young boy became incredibly emotional when he sang at his parents’ vow renewal ceremony. Videos of the 12-year-old were taken and uploaded on TikTok and unsurprisingly went viral, capturing the hearts of thousands of others. Read on to learn more about this heartwarming story.

Mills-Armstrong uploaded a video of her son singing “You Are the Reason” as she renewed her vows with her husband. The ceremony looked just like a wedding, with several guests in attendance and everyone dressed to the nines.
Aiden’s emotions clearly took over as he sang the ballad, and he wiped away his tears and continued singing. The 12-year-old explained that he was “very nervous” being in front of so many people but was “very excited and happy” to sing for his parents. His mom added:
“From the beginning, it was very emotional and then you heard all the guests in the background. They were crying so I got even more teary-eyed so I had to be looking up, because all of the tears would be flooding down. So it was a very special moment."
Videographer Danielle Tufano also uploaded a video of Aiden singing with the caption, “The bravest son singing for his parents vow renewal.”
Many people flooded the comment section to commend Aiden for a job well done and congratulate his parents on renewing their vows. One person said, “We’ve all just witnessed The love you guys have poured into him, thank you for sharing.” Another said: “That is the best thing I have seen probably ever. Man, I love this kid! So brave so sweet and I want to hear more of his voice!”
Even Calum Scott commented on the TikTok video and said:
“WHERE IS THIS BOY SO I CAN HUG HIM RIGHT NOW?!?! You killed it buddy, your parents must be so proud of you, as am I! 💙”
Mills-Armstrong was moved by all the “positive” comments left for her son and added, “I've been crying most of the time, because I just didn't believe that people love him so much.”
