There has never before been a family in the White House quite like the Obamas.

The family has gone down in history as the first African Americans to ever move into the White House. There were many occasions when the Obama family came together to show their love for each other and a few moments when the couple themselves showed us their relationship was strong throughout their eight-year stay in The White House.

1. Inauguration Night 2009

The love story between Barrack and Michelle Obama was on full show from the very start of the Presidency when the couple attended inaugural balls in Washington D.C. It was only 2009 and the world was still waiting to discover what kind of President the newly elected Barrack Obama would become when they got a glimpse into his chivalrous nature.

An iconic photo exists of the couple caught in a candid moment as they travel between different balls as the President removes his jacket and places it on the shoulders of his wife as they are surrounded by secret service agents.

3. "A Loving Touch"

A photo of the former President and First Lady ever so discreetly touching the hands of each other. Pete Souza simply captioned this photo "A Loving Touch."

4. Happy Birthday

A photo depicting the couple in a lovely embrace. It was reportedly taken while Barack was singing happy birthday to his wife. Souza claims he always got her a present too.

5. A true Gentleman

This particular photo was taken in 2014 in Paris at the dinner for President Hollande of France. Barack, chivalrous as ever, is shown helping Michelle walk down the steps by taking her hand.

6. His Best Friend

Last year, Barack took to his personal Instagram account to wish his wife a happy birthday with a sweet photo of the two. The caption read:

"You're not only my wife and the mother of my children, you're my best friend. I love your strength, your grace, and your determination. And I love you more each day. Happy Birthday."

7. Valentine's poems

In 2016, Barack spent Valentines away from his wife in California. To celebrate their love for one another, the two exchanged love poems on the Ellen show.

"Roses are red, violets are blue. You are the President, and I am your boo," was the former first lady's poem for her husband.

8. A Playlist of Love

This year, Michelle expressed her love for her "one and only" on Valentine's way the old school way: by sharing a playlist for him.

9. Holding Hands

Another photo taken by Pete Souza, this one shows the former first couple holding hands during a visit to Selma.

10. Sneaking a Smooch

No matter how official the setting, Michelle and Barack never shy away from public displays of affection. This photo shows an intimate moment where Barack sneaks a quick smooch on Michelle's cheek.

11. A Nasty Cold

In a photo shared by Michelle on Instagram to commemorate their 25th wedding anniversary, she revealed that on the day of their wedding, Barack woke up with a "nasty head cold." The caption read:

"Somehow, by the time I met him at the altar, it had miraculously disappeared and we ended up dancing almost all night. Twenty five years later, we’re still having fun, while also doing the hard work to build our partnership and support each other as individuals. I can’t imagine going on this wild ride with anybody else."

12. The Mistletoe

The Obamas might have spent about 25 Christmases together as husband and wife, but that did not stop Barack from stealing a kiss under the mistletoe.
