Nothing worse than trusting someone and realizing they've been bad mouthing you behind your back for a while. Real friends will never talk bad about you because they believe your friendship is more important than gossiping. It may seem like a gossiper will never get caught, but when they do, it's terrible for the friend who was being talked about. The friend will be hurt and will always be paranoid they're being talked about.

A true friend will never jeopardize a friendship over something as silly as gossiping.

Disney World and Disneyland are supposedly the happiest places on Earth. Most people agree those amusement parks are quite the entertainment but everyone has their own happy places within other people. The purpose of a true friend isn't to make you happy. You should be able to find ways to make yourself happy on your own.

However, a true friend makes you happier even when you least expect it. You should never feel drained and stressed being around this person. You should look forward to seeing them and having them be a part of your life.

3. They Accept The True You

As people, we have flaws. At times, it can be hard to accept ourselves for who we really are. This is hard enough but finding other people to accept us is even harder. No one should make you feel bad for who you are, especially a true friend. If your friend is constantly pointing out your flaws and criticizing you then maybe they don't have your best interest at heart.

You guys may even know more about each other than anyone else.

5. They Will Tell You The Truth No Matter What

Sometimes the truth can be very hard to swallow. However, just because it is hard to acknowledge doesn't mean it should be ignored. We can easily lie to ourselves and tell ourselves what we want to hear. Luckily, our true friends will tell us how it really is. They'll tell us the truth, even if we don't want to hear it. They recognize the importance of being upfront with you. Additionally, they will always be honest with you even if it may hurt you.

Signs of possessiveness is extremely unhealthy and can even put you in danger at some points.

7. They Meet You In The Middle

A relationship isn't always 50/50. There will be times when one friend will have to put more effort into the relationship. This is true, but it should also be taken with a grain of salt. If you are always the one to reach out to them and put 100% into the friendship when they're giving nothing, that's a bad sign. A true friend will meet you halfway and do whatever they can to salvage the relationship.

9. They Don't Further Complicate Mistakes

Have you ever known someone who always blows things out of proportion and wants to create extra drama? Well, a true friend would never do that.
