You’re only as old as you let yourself be. It’s all in your mind and here is a story about one person that proves this statement to be true!
Kirk Douglas, one of Hollywood’s finest, has reached an amazing 102 years old. And, retiring isn’t in his plans anytime soon.
Not too long ago, Kirk was caught camping! Who would have imagined that someone of his age or even 20 years younger would even consider camping?
You can see him taking a break while sporting his sunglasses and chillin’ on an air mattress in a tent in his backyard.

His grandson, Cameron, was the one that caught this moment by photo. He captured it with “This amazing man is such inspiration in so many ways! Going camping at 102!”. He even went as far as to include hashtags of “# thrunthru and #Spartacus”.
Kirk is known for his roles in "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and also "Spartacus" but he is perhaps best known for the role he played in "Paths of Glory" by Stanley Kubrick, Colonel Dax.
He has made quite a career and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Oscar for Lifetime Achievement, and has made it to be on the of last stars that remain living from the Golden Age in which he appeared in more than a staggering 90 movies.
Kirk’s life began as a child of Jewish immigrants. He had 7 siblings, all were girls. Due to the circumstance of the times, Kirk knows what it is like to work hard and stay determined through tough times. This is likely one of the reasons he had made it to and is still going at 102 years of age.
Before finding stardom, he was like many of us and worked odd jobs to bring income in. He even found employment as a paperboy.
The film where he made his debut was The Strange Love of Martha Ivers which was released in 1946. After his role in that film, all is history. He then came to be star he still is today.
He has been married for 64 years to Anne Buydens, his second wife that just so happens to be a producer.
Michael Douglas, Kirk’s son, recently stated in an interview that his dad shows no signs at all of slowing down. He is still working out, even with a trainer.
Michael recalls a time when his dad was 90 and he had been working out with the same partner for 40 years. His name was Mike Abrams but sadly their workouts ended when Abrams passed away at 94 years old. What an amazing life Kirk has had.
Can you even imagine all the things he has seen throughout his lifetime? I know I would love to make it to 102! Be sure and send this story on to your friends and family. They are sure to take some inspiration away after reading this story!
