101-Year-Old Woman Sew Over A Thousand Dresses To Support African Children

Most of us would love to make it to 100 years of age. Should we be blessed enough to live that long, we presume that we'll spend our days relaxing and reflecting on a life well spent. But for 101-year-old Lillian Weber, age was no excuse to sit around doing nothing. Not when there's a world that needs saving.

When Weber was 97, she heard about an organization that sent handmade girls' clothing to needy communities across Africa called "Little Dresses for Africa." An extremely talented seamstress, Weber didn't just decide to sew a few dresses for the organization and call it a day. Instead, she decided to create a lofty goal: sew 1,000 dresses for the organization before she turned 100.

We're tired just thinking about Weber's monumental task and we're not even half her age!

Weber worked tirelessly in her farmhouse, her commitment to the organization relentless as she worked towards her goal. Not only did Weber sew usable dresses for this worthy charity, but she was sure to add little details to each piece that would make it unique from the rest, ensuring that each little girl who wore one of her garments would feel special.

Sadly, Weber passed away in 2016 at the age of 101. Loved by her family, her community and all of those who she affected with her kindness and warmth, Weber is gone but not forgotten, as her story lives on thanks to the viral attention her mission garnered.

At this point, you're probably wondering whether or not Weber made it to 1,000 dresses. It warms our hearts to report that Weber not only achieved her goal but decided not to quit and to soldier on at her sewing machine. At the time of her passing, Weber had sewn 1,234 dresses for little girls in Africa.

According to Good News Network Weber said, just before she'd hit the thousandth dress mark: "I won't quit. I'll [keep going] because there's no reason to do nothing."
