100 Boys Join Peter Hollens For Heavenly Performance Of ‘How Great Thou Art'

Hearing an incredibly talented choir is a rare opportunity that not many people get to experience in person. Thankfully, with the help of the internet, many people all over the world are able to witness mind-blowing performances from singers and musicians from all walks of life. One performance in particular has been captivating the hearts of many and shocking the world with the graceful nature of the production. A choir made up of 100 young boys put on the performance of their lives when they joined professional musician Peter Hollens for a stunning rendition of “How Great Thou Art.”

Hollens joined The All-American Boys Chorus for a once-in-a-lifetime production of the song, including a music video set in the great outdoors. The picturesque scenery matched the tone of the song and the musical capabilities of the performers. By performing “How Great Thou Art” a cappella, Hollens and the choir were able to show how intimate yet powerful their vocal ranges and capabilities were, as their voices carried gorgeously throughout the video.

People all around the world have been captivated by the bright arrangement, leading the video to go viral and bring in plenty of views and commenters. By making their vocals the center point of the production, Hollens and The All-American Boys Chorus were able to breathe new life into the song. Hollens is known for being a singer, songwriter and music producer. He has grown to be incredibly involved with the a cappella style of music since 1999 when he and Leo da Silva founded the first collegiate a cappella group at the University of Oregon. He later graduated from the establishment with a bachelor’s degree in music and vocal performance. Staying involved with the art, Hollens has continued to work with collegiate a cappella groups in a number of ways, including recording, producing and judging competitions throughout the United States.

Along with this, Hollens has shifted some of his work and talents to YouTube in 2011, where he has shared plenty of music videos with fans all across the world. His channel has grown greatly in popularity, and he has surpassed over 2.6 million subscribers, with millions of views across all of his videos. The musician released his first album in 2012 and another in 2015. He has been known to collaborate with a number of artists over the years, including Whitney Avalon and the band Home Free.

Recently, Hollens has teamed up with The All-American Boys Chorus, a choir made up of 100 young boys. The choir’s mission is “to empower and give voice to boys from diverse backgrounds in order to build self-confidence, discipline, leadership skills and achievement through the transformative power of music.” There are core programs and training programs for boys to get involved with in order to help them develop their musical skills and hone in on their craft.

According to the official website for The All-American Boys Chorus, the programs are meant to help with “transforming an individual from a beginner vocalist to a seasoned performer while instilling leadership skills through peer-to-peer mentoring.”

The collaboration between Hollens and The All-American Boys Chorus provided people all over the world with a stunning performance of “How Great Thou Art.” The acts put their whole hearts and talents into the song, as they sang eloquently together in a heavenly fashion. A video of the angelic production was uploaded to YouTube on May 28, 2021, and has since garnered over 41,000 views. Hollens himself even described the performance as “the sound of heaven.”

Right from the start, the power of Hollens’ voice and the vibration from the chorus was evident as they instantly burst into song at the start of the video. At first, Hollens and about 15 boys from the choir were in a forest with the sunlight streaming through the trees. As the song progressed, the talented singers switched locations and were seen in a grand field. The rest of the members of The All-American Boys Chorus had joined in for the performance, bringing the grand total to 101 performers, including Hollens.

In true Hollens fashion, the performance was done a cappella in order to show off everyone’s vocal skills to the best of their natural ability. With great diction and captivating melodies, the two acts joined forces harmoniously to show off the beauty of the song, “How Great Thou Art.” The grandiose landscape was an added touch to make the overall performance even more breathtaking to experience. Everyone sang their hearts out until the very last note of the song, ending the performance with true grace and unmatched poise.
