10-Year-Old Twins And Friend Say Voice Guided Them Through Rescuing Drowning Dad

Every now and then, we come across a story so inspiring that it’s almost hard to believe. There are moments when people spring into action to help save the ones they love or moments when others do something extremely kind-hearted for a complete stranger. Whatever the story may be, it’s safe to say that the world is filled with unbelievable moments.

In June 2022, a pair of twin brothers saved their father with the help of one of their friends. Brad Hassig had been swimming in his backyard pool in Mountain Brook, Alabama when a terrifying incident occurred. He had been practicing some underwater breathing techniques when he suddenly lost consciousness. It wasn’t long before Hassig was on the verge of drowning.

Thankfully, his two 10-year-old sons, Bridon and Christian, as well as their friend Sam Ebert, had been in the pool area and witnessed everything. Despite their young age, the young boys sprang into action and knew that they had to do something — and they had to act fast.

Bridon and Sam dove down into the water and grabbed hold of Hassig, pulling him out of the pool and toward the pool steps. Meanwhile, Christian had run off to go get help. However, it was clear that Hassig wasn’t moving or breathing properly, and Bridon knew that his dad needed help at that exact moment. Without having any prior training and going solely based on the small knowledge he had, Bridon successfully performed CPR on his father and wound up saving his life.

The pair of twins and their friends have been called heroes after they saved Hassig from drowning. According to WBRC, Hassig was doing breathing exercises underwater, as it’s something he said he finds “peaceful and relaxing.” He explained, “It’s kind of a meditation … I don’t remember finishing it.”

Christian said he noticed his father shaking before falling on his side, his face turning a very light blue color. “I told Bridon, ‘Dad’s not OK,’” the 10-year-old said.

Bridon and Sam quickly sprang into action while Christian ran off to find help. Even though he didn’t really know how Bridon began resuscitating his dad. “I first gave him CPR a little and then I started giving him mouth to mouth and then he started throwing up foam and salt water and blood,” Bridon said.

Hassig said he could hear his son yelling, “Daddy, daddy, come back!” According to WBRC, he was rushed to the hospital after he regained consciousness and was admitted to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. He was released 24 hours later. “When he came home, that’s got to be the happiest moment of my life,” Christian said. Bridon admitted he hugged his dad for several minutes.

Bridon and Christian explained that they learned about CPR from watching movies. “I felt like a voice, ‘cause it wasn’t them or Sam,” Bridon said. “I felt like a voice in my head, ‘Save your dad.’ Jesus put a hand on our shoulder and guided us through the whole part.”

The boys never had training in CPR, but the Hassig family decided to set up a group training following the dad’s incident. “I love them,” Hassig said. “I’m very proud of them and grateful. I’ll be grateful for the rest of my life.”
