Copper is a Doberman who loves his family in Fairport, New York, and especially young Connor. When his mother, Jennifer Jayne, brought Copper home, she only expected him to be a family pet.

However, one night in 2016, Copper began frantically barking in Connor's room, and Jennifer discovered that Connor was having a seizure. His many ailments in addition to nocturnal seizures were PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, and chronic headaches. When Connor experiences one of his attacks, Copper becomes similar to a weighted blanket and lays up against him, which helps Connor calm down reports People. That also alerts Jennifer.

Because of his talent for caring, Jennifer got Copper registered as a service and emotional support dog, and he began looking after Connor on a full-time basis.

Then it was Copper's turn to have health problems. In 2017, the dog began limping and having trouble walking, and a vet said he might have Wobbler’s Disease. After MRIs were taken, it was determined that Copper did not have that disease but needed extensive laser therapy and rehabilitation to ease the pain in his spine and muscles.

That would be expensive, and Jennifer began a GoFundMe page where it was necessary to share Copper’s story because she needed help to pay for that treatment. Then Connor said that the pup was more important than his toys, and he wanted to clean out his whole playroom and hold a garage sale to sell most of his toys and help Copper.

Now it was Connor's turn to stay by Copper’s side during his treatments and look after him. They even had matching goggles that they wore during the laser therapy! Their bond only grew more incredible and unbreakable and confirmed that they were best friends.

More than $18,000 was raised on the GoFundMe page, and Jennifer stated how much the donations meant and that any money left over after Copper had completed his treatment would go to help other dogs.
