10-Year-Old Boy Documents Every Dog He Pets On The Most Wholesome Page On The Internet

Jan 18, 2019 by apost team

Dogs are the most common pet on planet Earth. Since they've been domesticated for many thousands of years, they're generally friendly, playful, and loyal. They're fun to physically be around and play with, but they're also fun to look at - online. Social media platforms are filled with accounts dedicated wholly to posting pictures of cute, fluffy, adorable dogs. This one, however, stands out from the rest.

10-year-old Gideon has effectively become a social media influencer just from taking pictures with dogs he runs into. His posts simply consist of him sitting beside, crouching behind, or otherwise posing with the dogs he crosses paths with.

Gideon always takes and posts between one and two pictures of him with the furry, friendly pups, each of which has a short description.

They're not incredibly well-written write-ups, either; rather, they're short, sweet, and to the point. The descriptions almost always include their names, age, breed, and hobbies. Sometimes, Gideon throws in extra information - go check out his page and see for yourself!

Gideon has branched out across the three kings of modern social media platforms: Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Although his Facebook account only has 3,500-odd likes, his Instagram has a whopping 21,600 followers!

Each of his social media platforms share the name of I've Pet That Dog, Gideon's mom supervises all three accounts. The mother-son duo started the social media pages in April 2018. Since then, Gideon and company have managed to grow the I've Pet That Dog Twitter page to a follower count exceeding 178,000 followers!

Check out Gideon's most recent post with Cauly, a four-year-old Terrier-Poodle mix. The post goes on to say that Cauly regularly chases after squirrels, terrorizing them to the extent that they both run in circles around the tree ad nauseam. Cauly is even said to love vegetables, favouring cauliflower and cabbage over other healthy veggies. It sounds like this four-year-old dog eats more veggies than most four-year-old humans.

In another one of his posts, he shows us a cute 14-year-old male dog, that is said to be an unknown Pointer mix. Like most older dogs, Bubbie is reportedly "calm and gentle," and even so in tune with his owners' needs that he won't eat unless they eat alongside him. Gideon then went on to say, "Sometimes they have to pretend." Poor Bubbie even had to endure the lengthy military deployment of his parent, putting him down in the dumps for a while.

In an interview, Gideon reflects on the idea that blossomed into him and his mom's social media pages. Gideon told Outside that he "needed to pet [dogs]" whenever he saw them. At the age of eight, he asked his mother, "Can I post pictures of dogs online?"

His mom asked why Gideon would want to capture pictures of dogs and share them on the Internet. Gideon innocently replied, "I love dogs so much, I want them to have a little bit of fame." A few months later, Gideon's mom surprised him with profiles on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for I've Pet That Dog.

Since their April 2018 creation, Gideon has swept several news media circles as the most innocent, wholesome, and sweetest thing to grace the screens of social media users.

Gideon lives in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with his family and dog named Walter. In order to stay safe while on the prowl for new dogs to meet, his mom drives him around for up to 45 minutes per dog in the greater Cedar Falls area. He was even lucky enough to be featured on the show floor of the American Kennel Club National Championship last month.

Isn´t "I've Pet That Dog" such a cute idea? What do you think about the boy having this kind of social media presence? We would love to hear your opinion in the comments! And make sure to pass this on to your other animal loving friends and loved ones. Let´s make their day.
