10-Year-Old Boy Develops A Miracle Invention To Prevent Deaths From Hot Cars After His Neighbor Becomes A Victim

Bishop Curry might be like any 10-year-old boy at first glance. However, this young Texas native has a new claim to fame. He's invented a product that will rescue children from hot cars.

Curry was inspired to create the "Oasis" after his infant neighbor passed on. The 6-month-old had died from overheating in a car. It's estimated that 712 children have suffered hot-car deaths since 1998. That unfortunately hasn't stopped people from leaving children, and even pets, in overheated vehicles.

The "Oasis" looks a lot like a pink Lego brick. It's designed to monitor a car's inner temperature. When the heat gets too high, Oasis starts releasing cooler air. The device also alerts parents and safety personnel via an antenna.

So far, Curry has made a 3D clay prototype. His father's GoFundMe has raised $24,000 towards making the Oasis a reality. The cost for manufacturing and patenting the device is estimated to be at least $20,000.

Curry says that his classmates have been equally supportive: "They want to work for me." He has been very humble about the whole experience. He explained to HuffPost that the idea just "came to him."

Curry wants to be an inventor when he grows up. His dream is to create a time machine! It wouldn't be surprising if that dream came true. We're super eager to see what else he'll come up with next. Pass this along so Bishop is encouraged to follow his dreams!
