10-Day-Old Pup Rescued From Garbage Given Warm Bath In Sink

Jun 04, 2020 by apost team

In 2014, DFW Rescue Me saved three puppies dumped in a garbage bin before they got euthanized. The orphaned 10-day-old pups require adequate care and nourishment to grow, including warm baths to regulate their temperature. The video of a 10-day-old puppy receiving a warm bath—in the sink!—is too cute for words, and even more meaningful knowing that he has been rescued and is safe now.

Medical Care For 10-Day-Old Puppies

In the video posted to YouTube from 2014, the team at DFW Rescue Me explained the background on the three tiny pups. They wrote: "Three new bottle babies. Found in a bag in a dumpster. They were suppose [sic] to be euthanized at 5:30pm on 11/26/14. Now safe, with full bellies." It's hard to think how anyone could abandon animals of any kind, let alone tiny puppies that are less than two-weeks-old. Thankfully they're safe now and in the care of the Dallas-based animal rescue group.

Now that the puppies are safe and sound, they still need a lot of care, especially since at this young age they should be with their mother and not out in the world alone. DFW Rescue Me touches on the big task at hand now that the pups need help reaching maturity. They explain: "It takes a very special person to foster bottle babies. It isn’t just a matter of feeding them every 2 hours and keeping them clean. You pretty much have to do it all. We try to make it as close to a mother’s care as we can get. Never a replacement, but as close as we can come. Warm baths help." Knowing the amount of work and care that goes into helping these little guys makes us even more thankful to DFW Rescue Me.

While it's sweet to see the adorable pups basking in the warm water baths, it's heartbreaking to know the story of how they got there and why it's necessary that they be cared for in this way. Dogs are for life, not just for a season, and with so many animals in rescue shelters, if you're considering getting a pet, think about adopting a dog in need first. It might even mean the difference between saving their life.
