1-Year-Old Born With One Leg Dances With Joy After His Prosthetic Enables Him To Walk

Brooks, who lives in Minnesota, who is one year old, was filmed by his mother as he jumped for joy, bounced up and down, and danced.

He just could not show his excitement enough that he was now able to stand, move, and dance to music – all because of a swanky new prosthetic leg.

Brooks’ Mom wrote, as she shared the experience with YouTube's several thousand viewers, that Brooks had just gotten his first prosthetic leg. In the video, his father is assisting him with strong hands as Brooks stands up on two feet and two legs for the very first time.

The mother filmed when Brooks tried to wear the device himself and while he tested out his new body part. He quickly adapted to the experience and seemed to instinctively know what to do.

He had been deprived of one leg when he was born due to a medical condition. He was resilient and strong as he went through doctor appointments and the needed surgery to amputate a digit that had been at the bottom of his stump.

Although he had been able to crawl, this innovative prosthetic means that he can stand up, walk, and run now and in the future, which would have otherwise been impossible for him.

How encouraging for people to know that it is possible for a boy like Brooks to be fitted with artificial limbs throughout his life that will hopefully enable him to be “normal”, active, happy, and be seen to be “just like the other kids.” He won't need to worry about being bullied or looked upon with pity because he is "different." He will probably decide to take part in sports and other activities that require having two legs.

Do you know anyone with a story like this with an artificial prosthetic? What is the person's background story, how old was the person when he or she got the prosthesis, and how have he or she coped with the situation? If so, do tell us all about it and the bravery it takes to tackle such a stressful achievement.
