Every now and then, a story comes along that warms your heart and restores your faith in the human spirit.

This such story occurred at the Valencia Bioparc zoo, located in the eastern part of Spain. A mother zebra had just given birth to a new baby when the unthinkable happened. As the baby takes its very first steps, it loses its balance and falls into a watering hole.

The baby boy was born to a zebra named La Nina, which translates to "the girl." The mother had been monitored during labor by zoo staff.

Shortly after the umbilical cord was cut, the brand new zebra took the fateful step into the water. It is clear by watching the video that the mother was clearly worried about what was happening as her baby plunged into the water. It turns out that the mommy zebra did not need to worry.

Without hesitating, two brave zookeepers waded into the water to help rescue the drowning baby zebra.

After grabbing the baby, the zookeepers carried it back to shore to hand off to its waiting mother. At first, the mother did not understand that the men were trying to help. However, she backed off once she realized that they were on her side.

Once the baby was safe with its mother, the two men raced out of the water and away from the protective zebra.

This dramatic rescue has to be seen to believed. Once you get the chance to watch the video of these heroic men saving a baby zebra, be sure to spread the incredible story to everyone that you know.
