Young Boy With Cerebral Palsy Successfully Takes First Steps As His Family Cheers Him On

May 28, 2020

Lincoln Miller successfully walked for the first time at the age of four. Lincoln, who has cerebral palsy, is the youngest child of the Miller family. His parents Stephen and Amanda Miller posted the video of Lincoln walking on their YouTube channel in April.

The Miller family consists of Amanda and Stephen as the parents of seven incredible kids: Keira, Reese, Jude, Liam, Ethan, and Lincoln. Lincoln is the youngest of the family, and unfortunately, the one with the most severe medical problems among all his siblings.

The young lad has been struggling with Moyamoya disease. This is a rare and chronic heart condition that blocks oxygen from getting to the brain.

The Moyamoya disease has been taking a huge toll on Lincoln and even triggered the development of cerebral palsy, multiple strokes, and hemiplegia on his left side. The effect after battling all these conditions cost Lincoln his ability to walk for most of his life.

Nonetheless, things took a twist for a better outcome in what the two parents refer to as a miracle. To date, the young fighter has gone under the scalpel twice for brain surgeries and enrolled for hundreds of hours in intense occupational and physical therapy.

According to Lincoln’s mother, Amanda, her son has made major strides in the right direction. In the video, she explains how about one year ago, Lincoln’s legs couldn’t carry his body citing instances of excruciating pain. However, you can see the progress in this encouraging video of Lincoln walking steadily on his home’s porch.

The video starts with Lincoln and his mom at one end of the porch, where she lets him go on his own. The young lad finds footing and places the first foot forward, making his first step. He repeats, finds his footing and places the other foot forward.

Lincoln’s father stated: “A year ago he was screaming and throwing a fit just to have to put weight on his feet,” he further added, “So, to see him come this far, it’s amazing guys! We are so blown away. It’s a miracle. He is just working so hard.”

From Amanda’s face, you can see her excitement and pride in how far her son has come on contrary to what a majority of people thought he could do. Lincoln has a strong support system, and this is evident in the video. His siblings are captured in the video cheering their fellow sibling fighter.

The young fighter slowly adjusts to a walking rhythm as his older siblings cheer him on from one end. You can see the love in their faces as Lincoln approaches them, encouraging him to soldier on. No matter how hard-hearted you are, this scene will send you into an emotional race.

Their parents weren’t left behind. Amanda and Stephen can’t hide their pride and joy in their faces after watching Lincoln take his first steps after everything he’s been through. It's evident that Lincoln’s current state has brought more joy into the Miller family.

What do you think about Amanda and Stephen’s missions and works through their efforts and blog? If you feel that this story needs more recognition, don’t shy from sending it to your friends and family.
