Woman Pulls Over To Pick Up Cooler On The Side Of The Road And Opens It To Discover Nine Puppies Inside

Oct 14, 2019

A woman in Texas was driving down a road on a hot day when she spotted a blue and white cooler. It was in such good condition that she decided to take it home and keep it. When she opened the cooler for a better look, she was astonished to find that there were nine puppies inside it.

The puppies were German Shepherds, and they were covered in their own waste. The cooler had no air holes, which means they would have soon suffocated.

The woman called the Sulphur Springs Animal Control Department to report her find. They, in turn, contacted Karri McCreary, a veterinarian at Vet Ranch, to ask her for assistance.

McCreary, who also works as a rescuer for Hunt County Pets Alive, drove to the woman’s location to pick up the puppies, which were still in the cooler. McCreary speculated to The Dodo that the woman had probably found them shortly after they were dumped, for they wouldn’t have survived long in a hot cooler with little air.

After a thorough veterinary examination, the puppies received a clean bill of health. McCreary, in fact, described them as healthy, happy, and playful. The puppies are currently staying at Hunt County Pets Alive, which has already found homes for all nine of them.

After they have received their vaccinations and any other needed medical care, they will be on their way to loving new families.
