Woman Plans To Marry Chandelier - And Is In Open Relationship With Other Objects

Apr 05, 2023

True love can come in many different forms. And when two people fall in love, it’s not unusual for them to want to take further actions within their relationship to highlight their commitment to each other. While marriage is not for everyone and not something that everyone wants, the tradition is something that many couples strive to achieve.

Amanda Liberty from Leeds, UK, expressed her excitement and was absolutely thrilled to be planning her future nuptials.

Back in 2019, the then-35-year-old was determined to have a big white wedding to celebrate the love she shares with her partner and wanted the world to know their relationship was just as valid as any. The object of her affection? A chandelier that goes by the name of Lumiere.

Liberty is in love with a chandelier who she claims is a female named Lumiere, perhaps named for the famous candelabra character from Disney's “Beauty and the Beast.” “She’s very funny, she’s excitable, she’s mature but she’s youthful,” Liberty said about the object of her affection.

According to the Sun, Liberty purchased the 91-year-old chandelier online. “She caught my eye on eBay. I had no idea she was my soon-to-be wife,” Liberty admitted.

But Lumiere isn't Liberty's only inanimate lover; Liberty claimed that they have "an open relationship" and is allegedly entrenched in romances with other light fixtures as well.

“Lumiere is too big to take to bed, but she does not mind when I spend time with the others,” Liberty reasoned. “This is just a natural orientation for me. I find the beauty in objects.”

"I'm determined to have this commitment ceremony, to prove that I'm here for Lumiere and that my love is going to last," Liberty told the Mirror.

"I know a lot of people think my attraction to chandeliers is strange, but I'm not crazy!" she continued."I have been polishing Lumiere most nights to ensure she looks her best too."

Liberty identifies as an "objectum sexual," a person who's attracted to objects. Health Guidance.org describes Objectum Sexuality (OS) as "an unusual psychological phenomenon in which an individual feels powerful affection toward a particular inanimate object – for all intents and purposes falling ‘in love’ with the object which may be a particular table, a train or a door."

“Some objectum sexual people believe that their partners talk to them, but I know that Lumiere communicates differently,” Liberty said. The woman explained that Lumiere “gives off energy” to show its feelings toward her.

It's worth noting that Liberty was not the surname she received at birth but rather one she obtained from a previous relationship with the Statue of Liberty. According to the Mirror, Amanda was deeply in love with the statue, or "Libby" as she calls her, but the long distance made the relationship difficult to sustain.

"People often can't understand that this is just a natural orientation for me," Liberty insisted. "I'm doing this in the hope that people will understand our love, and if not understand it, maybe they could at least accept it."

According to a Truly video from 2022, it doesn’t appear that Liberty has married her chandelier yet, but only time will tell.
