If you were around in 1990, you couldn't turn on the radio without hearing the hit song, "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips. Now, the hit song is celebrating its 30th birthday. Can you believe it?

"Hold On" went on to be the biggest hit of the year, winning a Billboard Music Award for its success. In addition to its lead single, the debut album titled "Wilson Philips" featured other huge hits for the group, including "Release Me" and "You're In Love."

Ironically, one of the group's members, Chynna Phillips Baldwin, gave birth to her daughter on the same day 10 years to the day after the song's single was released. In her recent Instagram post, she commented: "I just recently realized that my oldest daughter, Jameson, was born on February 27th of 2000... the same day 'Hold On' was released back in 1990! So this day will always be special to me. The song might have gone #1, but she will always be MY #1!!!"

Obviously February 27th is a very special day for Baldwin.

The song was a huge success for Wilson Phillips and in 2017, Billboard ranked the song number 15 on their list of "100 Greatest Girl Group Songs." The album went on to sell 5 million copies domestically and 10 million copies internationally, making it a huge success for the group. The song has been featured in several movies and television shows and the hit film, Bridesmaids, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It has also been covered by many artists including the group B*Witched in 2019, who released the song as a single. Wilson Phillips recently performed the song on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" with host, Kelly Clarkson, as seen in the video below. The YouTube video of the performance has over 500,000 views. Clearly, fans were happy to hear the group sing this classic 90s hit that skyrocketed their music careers.

Wilson Philip

Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson, and Chynna Phillips founded the group Wilson Philips in 1989. Carnie and Wendy Wilson are the daughters of The Beach Boys' Brian Wilson and Chynna Phillips is the daughter of The Mamas & The Papas' members John and Michelle Phillips, according to Where Music Meets the Soul.

The group members grew up together and found their own sound as musicians, breaking away from the style of their famous parents. Their first, self-titled album was released in 1990 with "Hold On" as the lead single and became a huge success. The group went on to release one more album in 1992 before the band went on hiatus. The group reunited in 2004 and released "California," a cover album, and in 2010 for the Christmas Album, "Christmas in Harmony."
