Tragedy can strike at any given moment. However, sometimes tragedy can actually be used for something good, making it easier to deal with. This is the case for the story you are about to hear.

Troy Gentry, a country superstar, was killed when the helicopter he was on crashed in 2017. He was just 50-years-old.

Eddie Montgomery is the other half of the duo that was known as Montgomery Gentry. He told Fox News that their whole lives changed on that fateful day.

Angie Gentry was one person who had to deal with the heart-wrenching tragedy. Angie, Troy’s wife, was thrust into a position that no one should ever have to go through. However, Angie was able to think about other people even as she was grieving her husband’s untimely death.

Gentry shared her thoughts in an interview with People. She stated that many different ideas and thoughts went through her mind the day her husband was killed. One was if there was a way for the death of her husband to bring something good to someone else.

She explained to the magazine that she felt that Troy would have encouraged her to do what she decided to do. She knew that while Troy had passed on, some parts of his body were in perfect working order. She believed that donating what she could was the right thing to do.

Unfortunately, the crash rendered Troy’s major organs useless for donation. But other parts of him were still perfect, including his eyes, bones, and tissue.

Gentry stayed stronger than many of us put together after the tragedy. While I know I would have wanted to just get into my bed and stay there for months, Gentry was on the phone right away, finding out all the information she needed to donate parts of her husband.

Gentry spent a lot of her time talking to experts about her husband’s medical history. The couple had already been married close to two decades at the time of his death.

Gentry said that she doesn’t understand why someone wouldn’t want to donate what they could of a loved one. Of course, Gentry has also seen firsthand just how organ donation can save someone. Her own sister was the recipient of a kidney donation.

Gentry is now hoping to someday meet the people who were given her late husband’s organs. She especially wants to meet the person who was given his corneas. She says that she wants to look into the eyes of the man she loved so much once more. She hopes that this person can see better and has a better life because of his donation.

We are all truly inspired by how compassionate and carrying Gentry is. It could not have been easy making this decision, especially right after the accident. Troy Gentry truly is a legend to millions of people.
