Plenty of disturbing videos of animal neglect and abuse have gone viral. How refreshing it is when a video of people going out of their way to help an animal in trouble takes the internet by storm instead.

That's exactly what you'll see if you take time to view this incredible display of love and compassion by two cyclists for a poor cow whose head gotten lodged in an unlikely place.

These two men were out riding their bikes in the region of Nerópolis, Brazil. They came across a cow whose head seemed to be hopelessly stuck in a tree. They couldn't imagine exactly how the unfortunate creature had ended up in this predicament, but they knew they had to do something to help.

They ran over to the cow's side and tried to come up with a workable plan to release her from the trap in which she was ensnared. The whole rescue operation was captured on video.

Once it was shared on social media it quickly went viral throughout the world. These tenacious rescuers would stop at nothing to make sure the cow's head was safely dislodged from the tree.

Though there was no way to determine just how long the animal had been caught in the tree, her would-be rescuers had reason to believe it had been quite some time. They noticed that she seemed to be lethargic as if she believed that all hope of her release was lost.

Her body was contorted and her legs were raised in the air as if signaling defeat from many attempts to escape on her own. Clearly, this cow desperately needed someone to help her! She was so tired out that she didn't even move when the cyclists got close to her.

Their first attempts at trying to straighten her body out were unsuccessful. She seemed unsure of how to respond to the men's gentle prodding.

They realized they needed to come up with an alternative plan. One rescuer attempted to pull her head up off of the trunk of the tree. It wouldn't budge. That strategy clearly wasn't going to work either.

So then the two men decided to work together to lift up the cow's head and neck. One held up her neck while the other pulled up on her head. This time the plan worked! The trapped cow was once again free to roam. You can only imagine the joy and relief that probably flooded over her at the realization that she was no longer stuck!
