Vince Gill is a household name for many good reasons. The most important of these is that he has a rich, expressive voice. His voice has earned him many awards, honors, and loyal country music fans.

Gill recently had another opportunity to sing The Star-Spangled Banner. This is the United States' national anthem, and Francis Scott Key wrote it. After a particularly vicious attack from the British Navy, the American lawyer and amateur poet wrote the lyrics after spotting the American flag still flying at Fort McHenry, Maryland.

Family Involvement

For this pre-Nashville Predators hockey game performance, Vince brought his two daughters. Jenny and Corrina. The country superstar's daughters were there for more than moral support. They were there to sing with him.

As the Gill family was introduced to the crowd, the audience wildly cheered. They expressed their pleasure that three Gills were in the house. However, all this noise quickly fell to a hush as Vince lifted his microphone to begin singing.

A Smooth Start

As Vince began to sing, his smooth, silky voice seemed to float down from the rafters. His expression reflected the reverent meaning of the lyrics. Now that he had the crowd's attention, it was time to give them a memorable performance.

After Vince made it through a few more lines, his daughter Jenny backed him with a harmony line. Next, it was Corrina's turn. By the time they made it to the end of this piece, the family was singing in three-part harmony.

Yet Another Award

Vince Gill has won many awards throughout his career. This evening, he was handed a trophy following his performance. The presenter was Nashville native and professional golfer Brandt Snedeker.
