Vet Tech Comforts Dog After Emergency Surgery By Cuddling Her Troubles Away

Apr 22, 2019

Pets give us unconditional love throughout their lives. Their only hope is that we give the same back to them. That includes providing them with the care they need. Unfortunately, that doesn't always happen. For one dog named Sokka, her family failed.

According to a Facebook post written by BARCS animal shelter, Sokka had spent eight years with her human caretakers. However, when she started showing signs of a serious health issue, her family didn't give her the care she needed. A swollen belly was an indication that something major was going on.

"The next time we saw her was yesterday here at BARCS, after she came in through an emergency Animal Control call. Her abdomen was huge and swollen, she could not walk and the family reported she had not eaten in four days. Our veterinarians and kennel team carried her in on a stretcher straight to our surgery room." they wrote in the post.

The normal practice at this Baltimore, MD, animal shelter was to send critically ill animals to emergency care facilities nearby. But, Sokka's case was too critical and time was of the essence. Sokka went into immediate surgery. Vets found that her uterus had become infected. They removed a 6-pound mass from her abdomen before stitching her up.

This frightened pup was overwhelmed and extremely frightened as the anesthetic wore off. Vet tech Dennis M. didn't like seeing her so scared. He cuddled up with her to help her through the confusion and fear. In doing so, he let her know how special she was and that many humans are kind and loving.

Dennis showed exactly how amazing he really is. He truly cares about the animals he takes care of. His love for and dedication to animals will bring a smile to your face. You can also see Dennis giving comfort to a frightened puppy after surgery in another video.

Thank you to Dennis and all the wonderful vet techs out there giving comfort and care to our furry friends!!

We're glad Sokka is going to be ok. What do you think of Dennis' actions? Would your pet's vet do that same? Let us know in the comments - and make sure to pass this along to your friends and family!
