To Calm Your Fussy Baby, Massage These Specific Stress Points

Nov 13, 2017

If you've ever experienced bodily pain that can't be relieved with conventional methods, reflexology might be the answer. This ancient form of art and medicine treats pain by activating certain pressure points on the body. You might find this hard to believe, but there is scientific evidence that such treatments can be affective. If you have a baby, reflexology is one of the most effective methods for alleviating pain.

Below are six of the most common areas that can be positively impacted through reflexology massage. Experts agree that these methods are most effective when the baby is as relaxed as possible. Blood flow should be encouraged with a warm bath to help maximize the efficacy of the massage.

Tooth and Head Aches

Tooth and head pain are common as babies grow and develop, but a quick way to treat such pain is with a gentle massage on the tips of your baby's toes. You can even do this while they sleep.

Sinus Pressure and Pain

Babies who have no experience with sinus pain will find such pain to be nearly unbearable. Massaging the bottom of your baby's toes will help alleviate the pressure.

Chest Pain

To help with any congestion or chest pain, massage the foot pads of your child beneath their toes but above the foot arch. A gentle circular motion will help tremendously.

Stomach Ache

To alleviate pain associated with the stomach area, find and massage the central location on the bottom of the foot where the two pads meet in the middle and the arch begins.

Abdomen Pain

If your child is experiencing indigestion, constipation, or heartburn, a massage to the upper middle portion of the arch will help. The lower middle portion of the arch should be massaged to help with bloating, gas, or other pains in the low intestine.

Pelvis Ache

The hips often grow at a faster rate than other areas of your child's body, which can cause unpleasant growing pains. To help reduce these pains, massage your child's foot on the heel. This spot can also help with upset tummies and constipation.

Major issues should always be discussed with a trained medical professional, but smaller pain issues can be dealt with at home thanks to the power of reflexology.
