This Heart Wrenching Video Shows Moment Cat Who Ran Off Into California Wild Fire Gets Reunited With Her Owner

The devastating Camp Fire in Northern California has left thousands of people homeless across the region.
One of the most heartbreaking problems to come out of the recent round of California wildfires is all of the pets that were separated from their owners in the race to escape.
This sweet video shows the reunion of Laci Ping and husband Curtis Mullins with their beloved gray tabby cat Mayson. Although Ping and Mullins were able to evacuate with Mayson, the cat became spooked when he heard an explosion and jumped out of his carrier to escape.
Mayson is one lucky tabby. Firefighters found Mayson and 22 other cats and brought them to the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. The hospital posted pictures of the found pets on their Facebook page and the relieved couple saw the posting.
The touching video shows Ping cuddling Mayson as she says "It's Ok, I got you." The reunion was sweet, but Mayson will need to remain at the hospital for a few more days to recover from the burns he suffered on his paws.

The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine has been instrumental in this crisis in reuniting pets with their worried families. The issue had been compounded because so many people had been at work when the fires started, thus they were not able to get home to rescue their pets from the approaching flames.
Cats are also especially prone to run away from their owners during the evacuation process because of the skittish nature of their personalities.
There are many organizations who have stepped up to help take in displaced pets. People who are missing their pets should check with places such as the Butte County Humane Society, San Francisco SPCA, North Valley Animal Disaster Group, VCA Valley Oak Veterinary Center, and the San Francisco Animal Care and Control.
In Southern California, missing pets might be found at the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, Humane Society of Ventura County, and the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control.
