The First 'A Star is Born' Trailer Is Finally Out and Living Up To The Hype

Remakes of classics are nothing new in Hollywood. Sometimes, they live up to the original. Other times, we have to wonder why they even bothered. In the case of A Star is Born, the trailer looks promising. 

A Star is Born remakes a classic with music icon Barbra Streisand. This new version follows the same basic plot: two musicians meet, search for fame and fall in love. 

At the core of this lovely story is a wayward alcoholic named Jackson Maine whose career as a singer is fizzling out when he meets Ally. Ally is shy, but she's got serious talent. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga play the musical duo. Jackson really helps Ally become the performer she can be, but she starts to get famous, which provides the conflict of the film. 

Joining Cooper and Gaga are a slew of other stars, including comedians Andrew Dice Clay and Dave Chappelle. Timeless, whiskey-voiced Sam Elliott will also be joining the eclectic cast. 

Fans of Lady Gaga will love the soundtrack, as she has written a few original tunes for the film. 

We've been talking about the Streisand/Kristofferson version of this film, but this is actually the fourth version of A Star is Born. The original was in 1937, then Judy Garland teamed up with James Mason to do it all over again in 1954. Then, Streisand and Kris Kristofferson led the film in 1976. Hopefully, this new take brings something fresh to the table. 

Both Cooper and Gaga are taking this one seriously with Cooper directing his first film ever and Gaga acting under her real name, Stefani Germanotta. Gaga gained some critical success with her roles on American Horror Story. The jump to the big screen might win her some awards. 

We know that Lady Gaga can sing. The question will be whether Cooper can keep up with her. The pair were seen singing together on the festival circuit leading up to the film, so he's put in the work. 

Fans spotted Kris Kristofferson with Gaga and Cooper on stage, so there are rumors that the actor will be making a cameo in the film.
