Texas Mom Delivers Rare Identical Quadruplets Amid The Pandemic

May 22, 2020

Texas woman Jenny Marr gave birth to identical quadruplets at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas on March 15. This was just a week before mandatory stay-at-home and social-distancing regulations began in Dallas County in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hudson, Harrison, Henry, and Hardy Marr came into the world on March 15 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, just eight days before mandatory stay-at-home and social-distancing regulations began in Dallas County in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It was kind of hard to wrap our head around," Jenny told CBSDFW. "But we're doing good with it. It's fun, it's exciting."

"Quadruplets are unique no matter what, but in this instance, they were spontaneous," Jenny's OB-GYN Dr. Lauren Murray said. She added that this type of instant family with no fertility treatment only happens in about one in 11 million births. The babies were born at 28 weeks, and after 10 weeks in the NICU, they were moved to the special care nursery.

"The boys did beyond expectations," commented Dr. Murray. "They all were very quickly breathing on their own. They fed incredibly well."

Jenny says it was hard not to be able to hug the doctors and nurses who helped her. Her husband, Chris Marr, expressed his gratitude for the hospital staff: “I was appreciative and impressed by all the precautions that were taken during our stay and the attention to detail in the care we received the entire time we spent with the boys at Texas Health Dallas."

The couple said their time at Texas Health Dallas was a powerful journey, as caregivers and hospital staff became their four baby boys’ first extended family. "To be able to share these little miracles, the joy of them with everybody ... it's just been really special," said the mom of four.
