Teen Is Rejected By Girl And Is Humiliated By Classmates - Then 13 Girls Step In

Oct 15, 2018

It can sometimes take a lot of courage for a young boy to ask a female interest out on a date. This is especially true for an unpopular high school student who has never done so in the past.

This is exactly the type of courage that was recently on display by high school sophomore Dakota Nelson when he asked a friend to attend a homecoming dance with him.

Life is sometimes not a fairy tale, however, and the invite from young Dakota was publicly rejected by the young lady. To make matters worse, the rejection took place in front of a room full of classmates that found amusement in his misfortune.

A group of classmates even stepped on the handmade poster Dakota had created to accompany his proposal.

Dakota admits to being devastated when walking away from his amused classmates.

The young boy, who is from Gray, Louisiana, explained in an interview with WGNO of New Orleans that after his friend shook her head no it was only his intent to make his way away from the circle of people that had formed around him.

The woes for Dakota Nelson did not end there, however, as he learned a few days after his public rejection that one onlooker had recorded a video of the event. And in a not so surprising move in today's world of social media, the video found its way on to Facebook.

The result was thousands of views and people all over America were now able to witness Dakota being teased and mocked by the crowd.

Dakota attempted to move on from the incident. He returned to school a few days later totally unaware of the surprise that awaited him. While walking through the hallway and on his way to class, Dakota was stopped by 13 girls. Each of them was holding a sign of their own.

The 13 girls, including some that were cheerleaders, all asked to attend the homecoming dance with Dakota. The teen says that their gesture more than made up for the disappointment he had experienced over his initial rejection. He explained that the group of girls truly made him feel appreciated. He says he also understood that there were friends at his school who truly cared about him.

The pain and rejection that was felt by Dakota just days before were now replaced with a broad smile. This was one example where the good guy truly did get the last laugh.
