When one imagines a superhero, one thinks of a larger than life figure in a colorful costume and billowing cape. The truth of the matter is that anyone can become a superhero by making a difference in the lives of others.

In the Disney+ series "Marvel’s Hero Project," Marvel Studios celebrates the efforts of young children who help their communities and those less fortunate. In the series’ most recent episode, Marvel told the story of Daniella Benitez, a young girl who builds homes for the poor in Mexico.

Daniella lives a quick car trip from Mexico in Southern California. When she volunteered to build a home in Mexico with a group of friends, Daniella learned just how much the people of Mexico suffered with poverty. Seeing the terrible conditions in the country, Daniella determined that it wasn’t enough to just build one home, she had to build many more.

Daniella soon founded a club at school to gather more volunteers interested in helping the people of Mexico, reports Marvel. Originally, Daniella’s mission was to build one home a year, a goal which she soon surpassed thanks to the kindness of those in her community.

In total, Daniella is able to raise about $16,000 for each family in need of aid. Daniella told producers from "Marvel’s Hero Project," how she is easily able to raise the $16,000 needed for a house by splitting it up among 16 of her friends, each of whom are responsible for $1,000.

The funds allow Daniella and her group to build a new home for each family that they help, all of whom are from Tijuana in Baja California. In an interview with KUSI Sports, Daniella explained that she works with a charity called Build a Miracle, which has built over 320 homes for the people of Tijuana since it was founded in 1999.

When asked to define what a hero is, Daniella also said in her interview with KUSI Sports, that a hero is someone who always does what is right. Being called a hero gives Daniella a tremendous boost of confidence as when someone bestows the title of hero on her, she knows that she is doing something good.

Continuing, Daniella says that while she takes pride in the work being done, she also feels that it is incredibly humbling. The teen girl adds that a home is something that most people take for granted and that she is glad to provide low income families with basic needs.

What do you think of Daniella’s story? Can you think of anyone in your life that should be on "Marvel’s Hero Project"?
