According to CNN, Stallone said that there is no pain greater than that of losing your child. He and his family still struggle to bear the loss of Sage, Stallone's first son, who passed away in 2012. Sage was born to Sylvester and his mother Sasha Czack, who was Stallone's first wife.

For a while, it was unclear as to the manner of Sage's passing. Some speculation was voiced that the young man might have died from drug misuse, as is often the case in these early death cases. The coroner's office could not make a determination for six weeks while toxicology tests were underway, and rumors continued to circulate in the media.

According to E News, Sage's lawyer, George Braunstein, described Sage as an energetic youth who was full of life, and they had recently spoken about plans for Sage to look for a wife. Braunstein said that there was nothing in Sage that revealed any signs of depression or financial problems. The relationship between Sage and his father had some troubles after the divorce with his mother, but the actor reconciled his relationship with Sage shortly afterward.

According to CNN, Stallone said that he expects to bear the pain from this loss for the rest of his life, and he described Sage as the center of his universe. And he urged the media not to befoul the memory of his son, and he was determined to silence the unfounded rumors that were circulating in news reports. Stallone canceled his public appearances and acting commitments for some time while he came to grips with his son's passing. When the autopsy report finally came to light, it revealed that Sage had died because of a heart problem that was associated with atherosclerosis.

This came as a surprise to everyone because this type of heart condition is rarely fatal at such a young age. Atherosclerosis is a common circulatory problem in older people that causes a buildup of plaque on the walls of the arteries.

When Stallone won a Golden Globe award for his movie "Creed," he paid tribute to Sage at the award ceremony. He said that the tragedy affected his creative process, and he believes that he honored the memory of his son in the process. Sage appeared in two of his father's films, "Rocky V" and "Daylight." Sage's career was building a lot of momentum when it was cut short by unlikely health problems.
