Squirrel Continues To Visit Family Who Helped Her For Years Until She Shocks Them With A Special Surprise

People should be kind not just to their own kind but also to animals as well. Although we don’t really know how these creatures think, it appears that they remember humans very well, especially when they have done something significant in their lives.

This is what happened to a female squirrel who was saved by a loving and patient family years ago. Even though the sweet gesture had happened some years in the past, the little animal still remembered those who helped her very well.

According to an article published by The Dodo in December 2017, a female squirrel named Bella was only four weeks old when she was unfortunately harmed by an owl in 2009. Since she was not in great shape at the time and was badly injured due to the incident, a wildlife rescue group decided to take her in.

The said group placed her in what is basically a foster care program for animals, in which Brantley Harrison and her family took her in for her to rehabilitate before she could go back to the wild again. She spent a few months with the Harrisons since it was winter, and they let her go during spring.

At first, the family just did what they had to do, which was take care of her, but little did they know that the squirrel would be a little bundle of joy for them and she would change their lives.

Bella spent the next few months of her life recovering along with three other squirrels named Moe, Curly, and Larry. All of them lived in an outdoor release cage and were taken care of very well.

The four squirrels were fed formula, vegetables, fruits, and nuts as they are the common food for their kind.

“Her personality was not any different than any other squirrel I have ever raised while she was in my care,” Harrison told the outlet, then added that her family’s main objective was to release them into the wild again. That’s why they never treated her as a pet.

In April 2010, all four of them were released. Initially, they were curious as to what was out there as they went up and down trees and observed a bigger world after they recovered.

Although most of them already adjusted to the outside world, Bella was not ready to part ways with the family that took care of her.

“She started to come back for a treat or two within days of being released,” Harrison said, then recalled that Bella would sit at the front door of their home waiting for a family member to notice that she came back to pay them a visit.

It seems like Bella never forgot the home where she was raised and taken care of as she regularly paid the Harrisons a visit for the next seven years.

She was very affectionate as she loved sitting on the family members’ laps. That’s why, as a treat, she would receive nuts from them.

On one occasion, Bella got injured and hurried back to the family home, so the family took care of her again. When she stayed at their home for the second time around, the family was shocked when she suddenly gave birth to three tiny squirrels.

The family had no choice but to help raise the little ones until they’re old enough.

“It was truly amazing to watch the baby I raised raise her own babies,” Harrison added.
