Singers Perform Remarkable Whistling And Singing Duet To Patsy Cline's 'Crazy’

Sep 08, 2020

There's something to be said for a stripped-down, unenhanced version of a classic song. When you have only your voice, basic instruments, and no special equipment, the music has to shine. In this video from 2018, these two young Youtubers took on a Patsy Cline classic and showed the old-fashioned way may still be the best.

Josh Turner is a guitarist on Youtube with already over 500 thousand subscribers, and it's clear to see why. He knows his instrument and plays with a natural, sublime style. When he came across Allison Young, he instantly had admiration for her voice and decided to ask her for a short duet on a tour stopover in Nashville. Well, it's no secret - these two together are fantastic.

Old songs like this were designed without all of the modern equipment, audio enhancements, and autotuners in mind, and this young duo takes to it Patsy Cline's classic "Crazy" with that spirit in mind.

The basic style and lovely vocals fit perfectly with these two young artists. Turner's style is a little sleepy, slow, and beautiful in its own way that compliments the voice of Allison until the two start singing it together and both break out in wide, pleased grins. They're obviously having just as much playing together as anyone who listens to it will.

They start off laughing together, sitting on a sofa with nothing but a microphone, an acoustic guitar, and Allison's flaming red hair and even more impressive voice. It's a serene setup, and after a little giggle together, the two start off by whistling through the opening bars.

Her voice is not exactly like Patsy Cline, but she has a perfect vibrato that gives the lyrics a different, but just as appealing flavor.

The beautiful hazy sunlight pours through the open-curtain setup as Young's unmitigated talent shows straight through, her not only carrying but enhancing this lovely tune that was originally written by Willie Nelson, which was originally titled "Stupid", as reported here by Biography.

Just when you think you couldn't have had more fun listening to the wonderful song, the two include a series of bloopers at the end of the video, showing it wasn't necessarily done in a single take! Watching them try to get the whistling kick-off together is absolutely hilarious and might have you coming back as many times just to see their chemistry and clear enjoyment.

Performances like this are a perfect thing to put a smile on your face and make you think of the old days, even if you didn't live in them! Their enthusiasm, talent, and raw affection for what they're doing shines through every second of this video. When you've finished watching, please pass it on to your music-loving friends. We think even non-country fans will get a kick out of this duet.
