Sam Elliott Only Has One Daughter — Introducing Cleo Rose In Pics

Sam Elliott is an American actor that is best known for his roles in Western films and television series. Some of his most prominent roles were in "The Big Lebowski" and "Tombstone," and he most recently starred in the Netflix series "The Ranch." Sam was also nominated for an Academy Award in 2019 for Best Supporting Actor in the film "A Star is Born."  

Sam is married to actress Katharine Ross. The star first worked with his wife while he was an extra on the film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." The pair did not get to meet during the filming because Katharine was the leading lady and was much too busy to hang around with an extra. However, Sam has said that he enjoyed getting to see Katharine work on the set and that he learned a lot about filmmaking from the experience. 

The couple officially met in 1978 while filming the gothic-horror film "The Legacy." They began dating shortly after and were married in 1984. Their daughter, Cleo Rose Elliott, was born in September of that same year. The couple worked together again in 2017 on the film "The Hero." The Elliott's own a seaside ranch in Malibu, California, where their daughter is a musician. 

The family has kept their personal lives private. Most people would not have known that the Elliotts have a daughter, but she has recently been seen with her parents on the red carpet. Cleo attended the Academy Awards ceremony the year her father was nominated for "A Star is Born," as well as the film's premiere.

Sam knew about his "A Star is Born" co-star, Lady Gaga, before they met because of Cleo. The actor can be heard explaining in a red carpet interview that his daughter introduced him to Lady Gaga's music before he even signed on for the film. Sam said, "We're all Lady Gaga fans, but because of Cleo — that's the reason I knew Lady Gaga's music before we started working together." Cleo has always loved music and pursued a career as a singer.

Cleo has said that her parents always encouraged her goals to be a singer and musician. "I got all their old vinyl," she said in an interview with the Malibu Times. "So some of my favorite albums are Led Zeppelin, The Cars' 'Heartbeat City,' the Allman Brothers' 'Eat a Peach' and maybe some old Madonna."

The artist said in her interview with Malibu Times in 2008 that she was joining the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers and was looking to distribute her album "No More Lies." Cleo shared, "The only way I know to write is straight from my heart. The songs on 'No More Lies' are about love, of course. Finding love and losing it. But it's not about one specific person."

Cleo also made it clear that her parents are happy that she is not following in their footsteps by becoming an actor. She said, "I'm working on selling this one and working on some more songs. My parents are totally supportive of this. They're just happy I don't want to be an actor." 

The singer is also engaged to musician Randy Christopher Bates, who shares many photos and videos of his fianceé to his Instagram account. Based on his photos, it looks like Cleo does some modeling on the side as well. 

Many Hollywood celebrities were at risk of losing their homes to the California wildfire of 2018, including the Elliott's. Cleo went onto Instagram in order to honor not only her father but the firemen who put their lives on the line to save what homes they could. It also looks as though Sam played a role in fighting the fire himself. Cleo posted a picture of her father with a fireman, standing in front of a firetruck.

Around 80 lives were lost in the wildfire, and more people are still missing. The fire also destroyed more than 14,000 structures while it blazed for days. It was a terrible fire that mesmerized the world. Thousands of residents had to flee their homes with barely any of their possessions. Many watched as their homes burned to the ground, leaving virtually nothing left. Others constantly prayed that their loved ones and friends would make it out alive.

Cleo added that she is forever grateful to everyone who helped to save their family home, including her dad, the firefighters, their gardener Juan, and his own son Johnny. She also said that her heart was with everyone who ended up losing so much in the fire.

Cleo Rose has thousands of followers on her Instagram page who were eager to send out messages of love and support after the terrifying event. Some even said that they felt as though her father was exactly the type of man he often portrayed in the movies. One user said: "Your dad is a hero on and off the screen," which is a statement we definitely agree with.
