Queen Elizabeth Snacks On Chocolate Biscuit Cake Every Single Day (And Other Royals' Dietary Habits)

Jun 20, 2019

The British Queen recently turned 93 years old, and as the longest-living monarch in history, many wonder what the secret to her long life might be. Could it be her favorite food? It's well-known that the Queen can't get enough of this chocolate biscuit cake, after all.

But what does the full royal diet actually look like? What does a feast fit for a real-life king - or in this case, queen - really look like?

Here’s are some of the UK royal family’s favorite and least favorite foods, and what they eat on a regular basis.

The Queen can’t stand garlic

Fortunately for Queen Elizabeth, Britain’s stereotypical cuisine isn’t heavy on garlic. The 93-year-old monarch can’t even stand the smell of the stuff.

She begins her day with a very British breakfast of toast with jelly or the occasional scrambled egg with salmon.

For lunch, she starts with a wine-based aperitif, then moves on to a course of fish and vegetables.

Her dinner doesn’t look much different than lunch, but the fish is replaced with very well done meat.

And the Queen shares something in common with another beloved British (but fictional) celebrity - James Bond! She loves a good martini and has one with every dinner.

Every day for dessert or afternoon tea, she has a slice of her favorite chocolate biscuit cake. In fact, the Queen brings one of these cakes with her wherever she goes to be sure she never misses out on her favorite food!

Finally, to finish off the day, she has a glass of champagne.

Duchess Camilla can’t get enough garlic

While Queen Elizabeth hates garlic, the potential future Queen of England can’t get enough of it. She eats it as often as possible, though she respectfully avoids it around her mother in law. The royal kitchen will have to get used to this adjustment if Duchess Camilla and Prince Charles take the throne.

Kate Middleton loves curry

The UK loves its curry, and apparently, so does the Duchess of Cambridge. It’s her favorite thing to cook, eat, and serve to guests.

Meghan Markle is a wine enthusiast

While many women in their thirties believe themselves to be wine connoisseurs, the Duchess of Sussex actually has incredible taste when it comes to her drink of choice, which rotates with the season. Her all-time favorite, though, is Tignanello.

Prince Philip is the least picky eater

While the Queen eats nearly the same thing every day, Prince Philip prefers to eat a more varied diet. He’s even been known to trade his meal for whatever the staff is having, if it looks good!

Prince William and Prince Harry are fast food fanatics

When they were little, the royal brothers would have chosen McDonald’s over an official royal dinner any day. Their tastes have evolved as they’ve grown up - at least to include other fast food items, like pizza.

So next time you’re craving a Big Mac with a side of chocolate cake and a glass of wine - just remember, you’re eating like a King!
