The only daughter of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, may just be five years old but she's already bearing a striking resemblance to that of her grandmother, the late Princess Diana.

From the kindergartener's little smirks that reflect Princess Diana’s famous grin, to their closeness in face shape and hair, fans can’t help but notice the similarities she has with Diana.

Back in June, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a sweet family photo on their Instagram page with the caption:

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share a new picture of The Duke with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ahead of The Duke’s birthday tomorrow. The picture was taken earlier this month by The Duchess."

Earlier this week, a commenter pointed out how much Charlotte resembled Diana in the post, writing: "Those children are absolutely beautiful. Little Charlotte looks just like her mother and (maternal) grandmother."

Prince William said that Charlotte loves to dance, just like his mother, and that she has a similar taste in pets to Diana. Princess Diana reportedly had two hamsters when she was a child, and in 2016, Vanity Fair reported that Charlotte got a hamster of her own named Marvin.

Some fans disagree, saying that the little girl bears more resemblance to her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II than she does to Diana, citing Charlotte's "serious eyes" that resemble the Queen's pensive face.
