Postal Driver Notices Boy Isn't Getting Any Packages And Makes A Personal Delivery

There is a huge sense of joy that comes whenever we receive a package that we’ve been waiting for. It could be something that we ordered weeks ago that we’ve been counting down the days to receive, or maybe it was something that was actually very essential to a daily routine schedule. Whatever the case may be, getting a package or a gift can really make someone’s day.

For Langston Walbuck, all he wanted was to receive something in the mail just for him, but it seemed like that was never going to happen. The young boy from California would wait on the balcony of his home, eagerly anticipating some kind of delivery, but none of the packages were ever for him. It was hard for Langston to see his neighbors receiving items that made them so happy, knowing that nothing was for him, and the child felt disappointed.

Hector Velasco, the neighborhood’s mail delivery driver, noticed Langston and was sad when he saw how upset the young boy was when he didn’t receive anything special in the mail. Wanting to help cheer him up, Velasco came up with a beautiful plan that involved a very special delivery for the young child.

In July 2020, Langston finally received a package just for him. It was a stunning act of kindness that the delivery driver didn’t need to do, but Velasco really wanted to help make Langston feel better and give him a reason to smile. Read on to find out more about this heartwarming story.

According to ABC 7, Langston typically stood on his balcony and waited for a package, but never got one from the local UPS driver, Velasco. The mail delivery driver decided he wanted to do something about that. Velasco explained, “I came right up to your neighbors and he’s like, ‘I want one too!’ I felt like I couldn’t do anything at the time, but I’m like you know what, let me see if I can try to bright his day, you know what I mean.”

The UPS driver decided to look around for something that he could give to the child and left a note for Langston’s parents promising that he would come back with a special delivery just for Langston. The following day, Langston’s dreams finally came true, and he received a package just for him, all thanks to Velasco. Inside the package were several toy race cars along with some candy, according to ABC 7.

Langston was ecstatic. “It made me feel special,” he said. Langston’s parents, Brooke and Sam, were both amazed at Velasco’s random act of kindness. “It’s been a really meaningful, special message to many of our friends and family right now,” Brooke said. “So it means a lot. Sam added, “For him to be so busy and still be that thoughtful, it just says a lot, for him as a person and as a dad.”

As a father himself, Velasco explained, “The world didn’t give my wife and I any boys… gave us two beautiful girls. Your son taught me a lesson that it’s not only my kids going through this pandemic.” He added, “You do your best to show them you’re not alone, we’re all here together.”
